We say THANK YOU with HUGE discounts! [Self-Publishing Basics]

Note: The discount below has expired. However, our regular prices are still pretty darn good! Subscribe to our RSS Feed, receive posts via e-mail or sign up for our newsletter to be notified of future AMAZING offers like the one below!

Whew!

With our post on marketing today, our series on Self-Publishing Basics has drawn to a close. We hope it has given beginners to self-publishing a path to success and the old-timers some food for thought. Check out the first post in the series to find links to everything that was covered.

To say thanks to everyone that commented, tweeted, retweeted and supported us during the series we’re offering HUGE savings. Crazy huge. As in 50% OFF our services — yup, EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. That means you can get:

All you have to do is listen to our podcast and answer our trivia question. Psst: If you read the show notes, you can even see exactly where to skip to to find the answer ;-)

But, it’s only until July 1st, so lock in your discount now and let us know you’re interested! There’s no obligation and, if you’re not ready to begin your project now, we can always schedule you in down the road while still keeping your discount in place — pretty cool, huh?

50% off? Seriously? Are you guys scamming me?

Heck no. We’re WAY too short on time to be thinking of scams — and we can offer discounts like these off of our already-ridiculously-low prices because we’re good and we’re fast. Period! We’ve been doing this stuff for long enough that we’re amazingly efficient without sacrificing quality.

Authors are short on time and money. You don’t want to tackle the entire self-publishing process yourself, but you’re scared of turning it over to someone else. Especially two gals over the internet. We totally understand!

If you’re not sure, lock in the discount and schedule a free consultation. Like we said before, there’s no obligation. A consultation just gives you the chance to get to know us a little better while we get the chance to figure out how we can help your book succeed.

Our success is your success. The self-publishing world isn’t going to let us hang around very long unless we produce results — and we want to prove to you that we’re serious about your project and those results (hence, the crazy discount).

It won’t hurt. It’s not scary. We’re low on pressure and high on personality. We’ll work around your schedule and communication preferences. E-mail, Skype, telephone, crayon — whatever!

What do you have to lose?

Listen to the podcast and lock in your pricing or schedule your consultation (remember, this crazy discount ENDS JULY 1*)!

PS – If you’re still not convinced, read more about us — we’re really very down-to-earth people. *Also, not only does this discount end July 1st, our prices are actually GOING UP by 20%. So, seriously, now is the time! Get the trivia answer and lock in your pricing with our 30-second contact form.

Author Branding Bootcamp: What Do You Think?

Ouch. I promise, our course won't hurt a bit!Earlier this week on Twitter, I floated the idea of starting an author branding “bootcamp,” that is, a rapid-fire, kick-in-the-butt course that will give you a fully-formed brand (and, perhaps, some new friends to help market your book) in no time flat.

When I broke it down, it laid out to about 20 days/lessons and included the following sections:

  • Introduction to branding and real-life examples
  • Part One: Who Are You? Taking the time to know yourself and your place in the writing world is the first step in creating an effective brand.
  • Part Two: Putting it Together and Your Visual Brand: Formalizing the stuff we found out about you in Part One and putting together colors, typefaces and a visual mark to create a physical “brand.”
  • Part Three: Jumping Into Action: How to implement your brand, both on and offline, in the venues that will work best for you.
  • Part Four: Advanced Branding: questions and answers, how to shift or change your brand (re-branding).
  • Conclusion: Resources and tips, wrap-up.

Here’s how I see the bootcamp working: (more…)

Happy Monday, Newcomers!

by Claudio Matsuoka

What a way to start our post-LOST Monday! Big thanks to Joel over at The Book Designer for including us in his list of 36 Great Blogs For Self-Publishers. If this is your first time in our neck of the woods, welcome!

We’d like to take a few moments to fill you in on who we are, what we do and where to find some of our best tips.

Who We Are

Hi! I’m Toni, one-half (the geeky half) of Duolit. My partner-in-crime (the author half) is Shannon. Together, we’re two gals who help authors find success by providing a resource for all things related to book publishing, branding, design, and marketing.

How We Help

Navigating the waters of self-publishing can be tough. We strive to ease the burden by:

  1. Keeping you up-to-date with the latest news and notes in the self-publishing world through our podcasts, blog and @duolit Twitter.
  2. Giving authors tools and resources to spark their creativity and motivate them throughout the self-publishing process.
  3. Providing a complete self-publishing solution and a-la-carte self-publishing services that are affordable, personal, professional and effective.

Next Steps

Our RSS Feed Address Has Changed

Just a quick note to let everyone know the address of our RSS feed has changed. It’s no longer http://selfpublishingteam.com/feed as we’ve sauntered over to FeedBurner. The new address is http://feeds.feedburner.com/selfpublishingteam. Using FeedBurner gives us a some pretty cool new features, like:

  • Subscribe via e-mail: Have way too many feeds to keep track of? Want to keep track of us in a more direct manner? Subscribe to the blog via e-mail and you’ll get a daily digest of our most recent posts.
  • Feedback: We can see which posts/topics are most popular so we can bring you more of what you want to read.
  • No More Posts Like This: If we ever move the site, the feed address will stay the same. Nifty.

If you’re reading this and wondering exactly what RSS is, watch this quick overview. If it sounds like it’s for you, subscribe to our feed and see our newest posts as soon as they’re published!

Have Something To Say? Be a Guest Poster!

By:me and the sysopLet’s face it, with only two authors (Shannon and I), people may get a little sick of seeing our names and stories all over the place here on the blog. Sure, we’re Duo-lit, but part of our mission is to involve the community and create a supportive environment for those either looking to self-publish or those already involved in the process. It’s definitely nice to know you’re not going through it alone!

Share your views, tell your story

So, here’s our idea — if you’ve been through the self-publishing process, are thinking about beginning it or just have something to say about any aspect of it – let us know! We’re looking for guest posters to share their views on any number of topics, including:

  • Self-publishing service reviews
  • Your self-publishing story
  • Maintaining writing motivation
  • How to choose a graphic designer
  • Author marketing tips and tricks
  • Using a blog to expand your audience

And whatever else you can think of — we’re not too picky on topics! We want you to write about your personal experiences and what interests you. (more…)
