February 2012 Writing Prompts

Hallelujah it’s Friday!

By now you should be accustomed to the spectacular new Duolit posting schedule which includes not one, not two but THREE posts every week. (I know you guys are excited, but please try to keep the Beiberesque squealing to a minimum, we’re trying to run a business here.)

If you missed our post on Monday, the quick story is this: One of our new 2012 initiatives is a monthly series of blog prompts called Duolit Indie Inspirations. When you want to write something on your blog but get stumped for topics, you can look to us for inspiration. As an added bonus, we’ll have a link-up post every Thursday where you can share the links to your blog on a particular topic and see what other indie authors have to say about the same subject.

We would love for you guys to submit some prompt ideas, so if you think of any just shoot me an e-mail and we’ll add them to our growing repertoire of ideas to use over the next few months.

Moving right along, here are the topics we’ve selected for each week in February. (Note: You don’t have to stick to the schedule, but our link-up posts will correspond with the schedule so just keep that in mind.)

Week 1: Jan. 27th – Feb. 2nd

Every author has found inspiration nestled in the pages of a great book. What was the first title to grab your attention and plant the seed in your mind that writing just might be your destiny?

Week 2: Feb. 3rd – Feb. 9th

Each month we’re going to try and keep things interesting with a mix of prompt types, including at least one creative writing prompt. This little snippet is our February creative writing prompt and can be used anywhere in post. You can put together a small short story, a poem, anything your heart desires!

Week 3: Feb. 10th – Feb. 16th

As much as we love the freedom self-publishing has given authors, there are still a few bugs that need to be worked out. Which one bothers you the most and what do you think we as members of the self-publishing community can do to fix it?

Week 4: Feb. 17th – Feb. 26th

This is a fun one (because blogs should always be fun). We here at Duolit love us some home cooked delicacies and we’d love to hear some of your favorites. Desserts, appetizers, entrees and more–whatever you love, we want to know! Who knows, maybe we’ll put together a self-publishing cookbook someday!
