I hope you’re having such a fabulous summer that you haven’t noticed these last few months have been a little light on the trademark Duolit pep.
But just in case you *are* missing us (And by the way, we miss you too!) I want to explain our summer hiatus and, more importantly, tell you when it will be over!
We WILL be back in action by the last week of August, starting with our ALLi Author Circle Hangout on August 21st (follow our Author Circle group page on Google Plus if you want to join the chat). Following that event, we’ll be resuming normal operations with new blogs, podcasts and some much-needed mailbox love.
But until then, things are going to stay pretty quiet around the Duolit HQ and here’s why…
Way back at the beginning of July (what now seems like eons ago) I accepted an amazing opportunity to join the team of a local non-profit museum. Toni and I re-worked our Duolit schedule and figured we would take a short two week hiatus while I settled into the new job and then resume normal operations.
All went as planned for exactly one week, and then along came a phone call no one ever wants to get from the hospital emergency room. I rushed to my dad’s side just in time for the diagnosis no one saw coming. What we thought was a kidney stone turned out to be cancer. After a blur of tests, a date has been set for surgery and the prognosis is (thankfully) a good one.
I’m sure many of you have experienced cancer either first or second hand. It has unfortunately become a pretty common part of life these days. But that doesn’t make it any less terrifying when it strikes so very close to home.
So I’m going to be taking some time out to be with my dad through his surgery and recovery, which will cover the next few weeks. Toni’s already spent the last month busting her butt to pick up my slack and now she needs a little break, too, hence the summer hiatus.
But we WILL be back and better than ever just in time for the fall!
And in the meantime, if you have questions or want to shoot us an email about something, please go ahead and reach out. We will be responding to emails, it’s just going to take a little longer than usual with everything that’s going on.
So enjoy the rest of your summer break because before you know it we’ll be busting all up in your inbox to start pumping you up for some big time book promotions!
