Where We’re at with the Weekend Book Marketing Workshops

WorkshopsWe’ve been helping authors market their work for a long time, with great results, but this is going to be our first time creating any kind of interactive book marketing workshop.

We’re both excited and eager to do it, but we want to make absolutely sure that our author friends want to take these workshops and that they will be ginormously AMAZING once they’re created!

And we’re pretty sure that the way these types of courses usually get created…that isn’t going to happen.

Here’s how workshops usually get built:

  • Someone has an idea for a great workshop, usually because of a huge need/interest in their community. (We definitely have this)
  • The workshop creator spends months (or years) creating the course, usually in isolation from the folks who will be taking it. (Blergg, not so cool)
  • The creator launches the course, which reflects what she thought the community wanted back when she started building the workshop months (or years!) earlier. (Wait…err…that doesn’t sound promising at all!)

Maybe it’s just us, but this process really doesn’t sound like a recipe for success!

Which is why we’ve decided to do things a little bit differently:

Instead of disappearing for a few months to build the workshops in seclusion, we want to create the courses in collaboration with our author friends, the folks who need them the most.

Weekend Workshops Q&A

How will these workshops err…work?

  • Each workshop will revolve around a central, results-driven topic (revamping your Facebook page, planning a blog tour, growing your mailing list).
  • Each course will contain six clear, concise lessons that will each take you around an hour to complete (depending on how speedy you are). You’ll be able to start and stop the lessons at your leisure, so you can knock the whole course out in two days or two weeks — it’s up to you.
  • The lessons will be a mix of text, audio, video, examples and exercises. We’ll do our best to accommodate every learning style!
  • All of the goodies (videos, slideshows, notes, exercises, and bonuses) will be available online, ready for you to take on at your own pace.

When can I begin taking the workshops?

Well, first we need to assemble our Weekend Warriors A-Team! Once we get it filled, we plan to have the first lesson of each of the courses up and ready for your feedback by March 13th. Our goal is to have the courses completely finished by March 27th (ahhhhh crazy timeline!).  Of course, that depends on how much you want us to refine/change 😉

No way — remember, our whole goal here is to be flexible and work around your schedule!
